smile

Baby Khye was at mum's place since last Fri morning cos we wanted to take time off from him & partly also becos i know my parents miss him. MIL almost cried when we told her about the plan on Thurs night. Told you, Baby Khye is hubby's "youngest bro"now.

Dad told us Baby Khye loves to smile now. Even slightest sound will make him giggle. One time, they took him for a stroll at supermarket. He gave gummy smile to a lady and I think the lady must have melted there and then. “Baby, how many times do I have to tell you, dun smile at strangers?”

sons exchange

Now i understand why DILs & MILs (especially newly weds or new mothers) will forever clash with each other. Not only they do things differently, they think differently as well.

Like for my case, i always want my baby to exercise his little hands and legs freely and dislike putting mittens & boots on him. Mil thinks otherwise as she's afraid that he will catch a cold. When he cries when he's upset with something or gets uncomfortable, i'll soothe him with pacifier, massage his tummy or carry him for a while until he stops, then i will put him down on his mattress again. If under mil's care, she will pat & carry him around the house for like 30mins or so and will only put him down when he falls asleep or when we ask her to. She gets very agitated whenever the baby cries and i pretty sure she does feel like crying together with him.

People must be thinking i'm a cold blooded mother when i dun attend to him immediately when he cries. If you analyze your baby’s crying, you will know what he wants from the sound of his cry. Crying for milk/water? Crying cos he pees/poos? Upset tummy? Or just crying out for attention. Perhaps mil sees me acting that way, therefore she tries to be there as much as possible for her grandson. And that's also why i feel that my son is slowly becoming her son. Do you believe in karma? I do now. I have her son, she has mine.

bathing time

Sometimes when i'm feeling extremely tired, i will pass the bathing task to hubby. Baby Khye is getting very "violent" nowadays and keeps wanting to show off his flying kick. So whenever we put him in the bath tub, he will be struggling and kicking all over the place and of cos he loves water too. I managed to snap a few pics of him, but some didn't turn out well, cos he moves too much and i was using a low end digicam. Papa was dressing him up. Pretty hard job too, he thinks people are playing with him when we hold his hands and legs. He is very ticklish too, just like his Papa dearest.

Finally...thanks, Pa=)

I think all babies grow very fast. During his stays in the hospital, he was only wearing S-size pampers which was proven too big for him. His legs did look like frog legs. And now just look at his Michelin thighs from above =)

Latest addition

I've been delaying this post due to laziness & tired-ness. So, ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the new addition of the Tee family - Baby Khye, born on CNY eve.

It all started like this, on 4Feb, while i was having CNY mood, my water bag leaked during lunch in office. Was thinking that it must be just another false alarm, my due date was still 6 weeks away and no way i would deliver so early. Hubby still insisted to bring me to hospital for checkup and i got lectured by him for wanting to delay it. As you know, i also happen to have a very "kin cheong" mum who will get "kin cheong" whenever something happen to her daughters. Reached hospital, the nurse sent me to labor room for checkup after i told that my water bag leaked. For the 1st time in my entire life, i was "poked", not once, not twice, but thrice on the same day!! Nurse#1 poked and related her findings to Nurse#2. Nurse#2 wanted to confirm, again. After talking among themselves, they went to get my gynae who was on duty in the labor room and I had my 3rd time. Finally, after a few embarrassments, i was admitted for observation, konon la. Oh yeah, i cried when they told me that i may have to deliver early. Cos I wanted a Mickey instead of Piggy! Anyway, i was given 3 injections to toughen my baby lungs, just in case he decided to come out early.

On the 2nd day, my gynae scanned and checked my tummy before breaking me the bad news (or izzit a good one). I have to either deliver on that very night or next morning otherwise, i'd lose the baby. The first thing i did was to call up my sis & mum cos i didn't want to disturb hubby at his meeting. The nurse induced me with 1st dose. At about 10am, i sent hubby this message "Call me immediately after your meeting!" which he did right after he received the message. After telling him what the doc said, he remained very calm or he was just trying to be calm, i have no idea. It's a good thing i did pack all my things the week before, so it was quite easy for hubby to search and sapu everything to the hospital for me. Before i was induced with second dose, parents came and asked me whether did i crave for any food and that i better fill up my stomach before going into labor. Honestly, i was still very upset cos i had to deliver early and no appetite to even eat.

While i was having dinner with hubby, the nurse came and gave me the second dose. It was when the pain started and i could hardly finish my dinner. Nurse told me to press the bell for her if the pain became unbearable. Uh-oh... The pain started around 5.20pm and about 10pm, the pain became unbearable where hubby had to call the nurse in. Unfortunately, my cervix was not open yet so i had to wait some more. At 11pm, i was screaming for hubby to get the nurse again, and yet my cervix was only 1cm wide. Hubby went to sleep in the car as he was asked to leave the ward cos no husband is allowed to stay overnight. At 12.15am, my gynae came to check on me. What he did was to you-know-what to burst my water bag and i was soaked with water & blood. And the pain...i woke everybody in the room, just imagine it. Gynae summoned the nurse to send me to labor room & i called hubby immediately. Hubby rushed all the way from the car park to the main door but it was already locked, so he had to run to the emergency entrance before he reached my bed, looking paler than me. One thing i dun like about the hospital, i was already in pain after the nurse cleaned me up & she asked me to walk all the way to the labor room, without a wheelchair. Hubby almost screamed at them but i didn't care as all i wanted to do was to lie down on the bed.
While lying on the bed, i was thinking how should i breathe & push. I was already very tired and the pain was making me nuts. Just imagine you have 2 bricks coming out from your ovaries. Or you're trying to pull a gigantic lorry with your waist. That painful. Parents were outside waiting until 3am before hubby asked them to go home and rest. They even bought roti canai for him...hahaha. Hubby came back into the room and told me, he's going to ask the doc to operate me rather than see me in pain.

Around 5am, my gynae returned and told me, it's getting dangerous and i must undergo C-sect since my cervix was till not opened yet. I asked the nurse to find hubby as he was no where to be seen. He was again shoo-ed away by the nurse and was resting in the car. The nurse started to prepare me for the operation. A tube was inserted to my left hand twice cos the nurse couldn't find the vein. Stupid nurse! Then she inserted another tube for urinating which made me extremely uncomfortable. I was then pushed in the walkway where hubby was already waiting for me. It was really an unforgettable experience for me, being pushed around and feeling uncomfortable and always feeling the urge to pass urine. The pain didn't really subside either. I was telling hubby that i was very very scared and my heart was going to jump out from my mouth. He asked me to relax and calmed me down, which i didn't of cos.

I cannot remember how many beds the nurses transferred me into. An anesthetic doc was waiting for me and when he finally gave me the anesthetic injection, i went numb from waist down and immediately felt so comfortable. No more pain, no more urge to pass urine. Heaven... Before my gyane came, i kept asking the anesthetic doc to check over and over again whether or not my body was really numb. Silly of me but i couldn't help it. I was really really afraid. My gyane came and started the operation. My friends told me, i can actually see what he's doing by looking at the reflection on the lights above me. Crazy, why would i want to see that?!?! Anyway, all i know was i kept praying, opening & squeezing my palms so hard that one of the nurses came to grab them. I distract myself from hearing the sounds of the equipment, by thinking of other things. Suddenly, i heard my baby crying very loud. Did i cry together with him? The answer is no, i was too nervous to act. They cleaned him and brought him near my face to show me it's a baby boy before holding him near to my face. I could smell him, i could see his tiny pink face & hear his breathing. He was so tiny, only 2.45kg.

Everything lasted for like 2 hours, including having me under observation after C-sect. I was expecting hubby to follow the baby to the nursery, but he didn't. He waited patiently outside the operating theatre until they sent me back to my room. I dozed off like i haven't slept for years. Mission accomplished and that’s how I spent my CNY.

loooongggg winded

Can you identify the most long-winded person in my family?

My dad speaks slowly and repeats a phrase a few times before he finally finishes his sentence. e.g "I went to see that person, that person, i went to see that person in charge......."

My mum repeats the same story to different group of listeners on separate occassions.

My fil seldom repeat his words nor sentences.

My mil normally repeats a story 1+n(n=number of people in the same room) times. She will relate a story to everybody in the living room, then repeats the same story to each and everyone again: 1 time for fil, 1 time for hubby, 1 time for me although all of us are sitting in the same living room. A total of 4 times at least. She even asks the same questions over and over again. My mum does that too but not so frequent.

Next question: How do you stop a long winded person from repeating the same stories?

i hate this

I know it's disgusting!! I have no idea how it started and why it happened. If you're lucky you will not get this during your pregnancy. I applied stretch mark lotion when i was 5 months pregnant and when the marks weren't even there. By 6th month, i thought i was very lucky to be blessed with no marks on my tummy. But i was so wrong. The marks appeared on 7th month and the lines are getting more each day. It's 3D, long and deep mark. I still put on a lot of lotion every night but to no avail. I have to bear with the marks for the rest of my life. No more low waist jeans for me. Come, cry together with me. Oh yeah, my belly button is as ugly too.

2 months to go

I’m finally 8th month pregnant. The government doc suspected i have placenta pravia when i was 28weeks pregnant. It's the case where placenta is lying low in uterus when it should be located quite high on top. Normally, people with placenta pravia will experience bleeding during pregnancy or even early delivery. Scary or not? First, the government doc suspected that i have diabetes & hypertension due to my weight increased 4kg in a month. The result showed negative. Now they want to scare me with placenta pravia. I have to go for a few rounds of scanning and check up to ensure the placenta is still at the same place and not lower. In the meantime, I cannot do any house chores at all. All I need to do is sit and rest for the rest of my pregnancy. No more 3 hours walk in shopping centers now. Oh yeah, I’m going to post a baby p*orn pic here. Guess what’s that. I asked the doc to focus on that "part" so that I can bring the pic back and show everybody including in-laws =)

Surprisingly, my weight only increased 0.5kg from last month when it should be 1kg. Must be due to the toothache.

more items

I just love Avent products (this is not a paid post). We did a lot of shopping last month since there were so many holidays. Hubby and i went to a few shops and shopping complexes to compare Avent products before buying them. Finally, we ended up buying the products from a shop at Raja Uda, operated by a young couple. The shop was having opening promotion and i guessed we were just lucky.

Since we've decided to breastfeed exclusively and not depending on formula, we decided to get Avent ISIS Manual Breast Pump. The electric pump is much better option but the price is a bit too high for us. Many of my friends recommended manual pump as you can control the pressure and not hurt your nipples badly. So just got Avent ISIS Manual Breast Pump for RM175.

FIL doesn't like the idea of sending the baby to baby-sitter, so MIL offers to take care of the baby full time, excluding night time. To ease her baby sitting task, hubby got Avent iQ 24 Electronic Steam Sterilizer so that she dun have to sterilize the bottles using traditional way and it's time consuming. I can also use this sterilizer to cleanse my breast pump. The price, RM409. Pretty expensive but i hope mil knows how to use it. I haven't learned myself :P

We are supposed to get Avent Express Bottle and Baby Food Warmer from the same shop but it was out of stock. This item is selling like hot cakes according to the shop owner which i doubt so. RM220 for a set like that, who would buy it except working people like us. Frozen or refrigerated breast milk is not supposed to be boiled or heated by microwave. MIL will be having hard time to heat up refrigerated breastmilk, so this is a necessity for her. Just 4 mins and you will have a just nice milk to feed the baby.

I think the shop owners love us.

where are my toes

I just realised this morning, i cannot see my toes while i was having my shower in the bathroom!!! Hubby has been very helpful to cut my toe nails for me although he dun shapethe nails like i always do. I need to sit on a stool or my bed to put on my pants since i cannot bend easily anymore. My waistline is 40 inches with a 41 inches butt. I had to get new bras last month with much bigger cups. I'm turning into a giant mama. Another weight measurement tomorrow and i think it's going to touch 75kg. Darn.......
